The History of the George Mason University Field House
The George Mason University Field House was built in 2015 and opened in 2016. The facility was funded by a combination of private donations and university funds. The Field House was designed by the architectural firm of HOK and was built by the construction firm of Clark Construction Group.
The Field House was built to replace the university’s previous indoor athletic facility, the Patriot Center. The Patriot Center was a 10,000-square-foot facility that was built in 1985. The Field House is significantly larger than the Patriot Center and provides much more space for student-athletes to train.
