Tuition fees can worry students who aspire to higher education. However, the University of Portland recognizes the financial challenges that students and families face, and has made a commitment to providing generous financial aid packages to ensure that all deserving students have access to a quality education.
Tailor-Made Aid Packages
The University of Portland believes that every student’s financial situation is unique. That’s why they offer a range of financial aid options to meet individual needs. These options include:
- Scholarships: Over 2,200 scholarships are awarded to more than 1,400 incoming students. These scholarships are based on academic merit, financial need, and other factors.
- Grants: The university offers need-based grants to students who demonstrate financial need. These grants do not have to be repaid.
- Loans: Students may also borrow money to help pay for college. The university offers a variety of loan options, both federal and private.
- Work-Study Programs: Students can earn money to help pay for college by working on campus.
Merit Scholarships
The University of Portland offers a range of merit scholarships to recognize academic achievement. These scholarships range from $1,000 to $20,000 per year. Students can apply for merit scholarships by completing the university’s online scholarship application.
Need-Based Scholarships and Grants
The University of Portland also offers a range of need-based scholarships and grants to students who demonstrate financial need. These scholarships and grants are funded by the university, as well as by private donors. Students are automatically considered for need-based aid when they complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Students can earn money to help pay for college by working on campus. The university offers a variety of work-study programs, including jobs in the library, the dining hall, and the admissions office. Students must apply for work-study programs through the university’s financial aid office.
