Clifford was born on October 25, 1937, in the neighboring town of Guion. He grew up in a close-knit family, instilling in him the values of hard work, compassion, and service. After graduating from Guion High School in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served honorably for two years.

Upon his return, Clifford met the love of his life, Mary Ellen Jones, and they married in 1959. Together, they raised three children: Michael, Susan, and David. Clifford’s devotion to his family was unwavering, and he always put their needs first.

Clifford’s impact extended beyond his family to the broader Mountain View community. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. His unwavering faith guided him in all he did.

Clifford was also actively involved in various community organizations. He was a founding member of the Mountain View Rotary Club and served as its president multiple times. He was also a member of the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion.

Known for his integrity, kindness, and down-to-earth nature, Clifford was respected by all who knew him. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether it was to a neighbor in need or a stranger who simply needed a friendly face.

Clifford’s memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Mary Ellen; his children, Michael (Janice), Susan (Joe), and David (Lisa); his grandchildren, John, Emily, Matthew, Sarah, and James; and his great-grandchildren, Landon, Amelia, and Noah. He will also be missed by his extended family, countless friends, and the entire Mountain View community.

A funeral service to honor Clifford’s life will be held at the First Baptist Church in Mountain View on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow at Guion Cemetery.
