Applying for Financial Aid

To apply for financial aid at TAMIU, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA is a federal form that collects information about your financial situation and family income. This information is used to determine your eligibility for federal and state financial aid.

Federal Direct Subsidized Loans: These loans are subsidized by the federal government and do not accrue interest while you are enrolled in school at least half-time. In 2023-2024, the maximum annual loan amount for dependent undergraduate students is $12,500.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans: These loans are not subsidized by the federal government and accrue interest while you are in school. In 2023-2024, the maximum annual loan amount for dependent undergraduate students is $20,500.
Federal Direct PLUS Loans: These loans are available to parents of dependent undergraduate students and graduate students. In 2023-2024, the maximum loan amount for a PLUS loan is the cost of attendance minus other financial aid received.

Work-Study Programs:

The Federal Work-Study Program (FWSP) provides part-time employment opportunities on campus to students with financial need. Wages earned through the FWSP can be used to pay for tuition and fees, books, supplies, and other educational expenses.

Eligibility Requirements
